This crème brûlée French toast is a rich, custardy baked breakfast with a caramelized sugar topping and soft, creamy center—perfect for special brunches or holiday mornings.
Ingredients

6–8 slices brioche, 1-inch thick

½ cup unsalted butter

¾ cup brown sugar

6 egg yolks

1½ cups heavy cream

½ cup whole milk

½ cup granulated sugar

1 tbsp vanilla extract

Turbinado or granulated sugar for brûlée topping
Instructions

Melt butter and brown sugar in a saucepan. Pour into a 9×13-inch dish.

Arrange bread slices in dish over caramel.

In a bowl, whisk egg yolks, cream, milk, sugar, and vanilla.

Pour custard over bread, press gently. Refrigerate 2 hours or overnight.

Preheat oven to 350°F. Bake uncovered 35–40 minutes until set and golden.

Sprinkle sugar on top and caramelize with torch or broiler.

Serve warm with fresh fruit or whipped cream.
Notes
Let rest after baking for easier slicing. Use day-old bread for best soak. Make in ramekins for individual portions.
