Description
These classic cheesy meatball subs are packed with juicy meatballs, rich marinara sauce, and gooey melted cheese, all on soft, toasted sub rolls. A perfect comfort food sandwich.
Ingredients

1 lb ground beef or beef/pork mix

½ cup breadcrumbs

1 egg
-
2 garlic cloves, minced

¼ cup grated Parmesan

1 tsp dried oregano
-
Salt and pepper

1 tbsp olive oil

1 small onion, diced
-
2 garlic cloves, minced
-
1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes

1 tsp dried basil
-
1 tsp sugar (optional)
-
4 sub rolls
-
1½ cups shredded mozzarella

Optional: provolone, Parmesan, parsley
Instructions

Mix ground meat, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic, Parmesan, oregano, salt, and pepper. Form into meatballs.

Brown meatballs in olive oil until golden. Remove and set aside.

Sauté onion and garlic, add crushed tomatoes, basil, sugar, salt, and pepper. Simmer 10 minutes.

Return meatballs to sauce and simmer 10 more minutes.

Slice rolls, add meatballs and sauce, top with cheese.

Bake at 375°F for 10–12 minutes or until cheese melts.

Serve hot with garnish of choice.
Notes
Use store-bought meatballs for ease. Add red pepper flakes for spice. Toast rolls first to prevent sogginess.
